HISTORY OF IOS 2

This is the second part in the ongoing, History of Ios. In the first part, I talked about the origin of the iosan gods, how they made the iosans and with the god’s help, creating the Bridge of Worlds. Next comes what happened when the gods and their people triumphed over creating the bridge that allowed the very gods to arrive in Caen and walk amongst their very people…it wasn’t all peaches and cream.

Once again if any don’t get the message, the information I am summarizing comes from the Retribution of Scyrah book which is copyright of PrivateerPress and its members, Retribution of Scyrah, Warmachine and any other logo here is also their copyright.

After the gods successfully walked out of the Bridge of Worlds and were greeted by their adoring public, the bridge suddenly exploded with such force that even a nearby river disappeared and their capital reduced to nothing, even the weather was struck as it changed dangerously. According to records, millions died instantly while even more died in the aftermath, but not all hope was lost, the gods used their powers to preserve their people and took them to the west to escape the horrors of what is now known as The Cataclysm.

During this trek, the people were attacked by many terrors and even the gods were short of power to defend everyone, were it not for a group of fearless warriors who gave their lives, the survivors could not have made it through the nightmare. After the dangerous migration to better land, the people settled in the forests of Archenbough and Mistbough where they had terrain for farming and protective mountains, and with the help of the gods, the iosans once again thrived; they rekindled contact with the dwarves of Rhul for future trade and made the gate of Storms, serving as fortress to protect their new home. Next they made the Gate of Mists, and continued to construct their new cities, each one dedicated to one of their gods and having a temple serving as resting place and home to a god.

After a couple of centuries, the people of Ios noticed that ill roots had taken place, in the form of diseases and old age, for which the gods had no answers and the people grew restless and resentful, but the gods made an intervention and helped the oncoming problems but their divine powers only helped ease the epidemics for short times. A malaise followed where the people ignored the problems they faced and only took their time for their patron god, the Consulate Court became powerless.

At one point the gods came to a conclusion that saving their beloved people would mean abandoning them in order to find a way back to The Veld, given that even the gods were suffering sand their strength was slowly decreasing, but returning seemed to be more trouble than imagined. The gods said their final ceremonies and left to find a way to return to their home. After a while, the people Darsael begun a migration out of Ios, these would later become the Nyss.
